Dr. Marino is the Director of Audiology at the Fairfax Hearing Center. She relocated from Detroit, MI to Northern VA after joining the Fairfax Hearing Center in 2003. Dr. Marino completed her Doctor of Audiology Degree from Salus University in Elkins Park, PA. She earned her Master of Science in Audiology from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI and a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University in 2000. Dr. Marino is certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. She is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia to dispense hearing aids and is certified to recommend and fit all levels of amplification. The most rewarding part of her work is bringing back the “sounds of life” to her patients, Her hobbies include traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family. Dr. Marino is fluent in Russian.
Dr. Carter joined the Fairfax Hearing Center in October 2016. She earned her Doctor of Audiology Degree from the University of Northern Colorado in August 2015. She attended East Carolina University from 2004 to 2007 and completed her Bachelor of Science in Audiology and Speech Language Sciences in 2008. Dr. Carter is certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association and is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Before joining the Fairfax Hearing Center, Dr. Carter practiced in Colorado, where her clinical experience included diagnostic hearing and vestibular evaluations, hearing aids, and cochlear implants for adults and .
Dr. Ballew joined Fairfax Hearing Center in September 2017. She earned her Doctor of Audiology Degree from Salus University in 2005. She completed her Bachelors Degree in Communication Disorders in 1998 and Masters of Audiology in 2000 from the University of Northern Colorado. Dr. Ballew is certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association and is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia to practice Audiology. Dr. Ballew and her family have moved many times around the country due to her husband’s career. She has had the opportunity to work and gain experience in numerous Audiology settings, including both VA and Children’s Hospitals, educational Audiology, private practice, as well as ENT offices. In her free time, Dr. Ballew enjoys traveling, outdoor activities and attending her kids sporting events.
Claudia has been with the Fairfax Hearing Center since October 2010. She has over 30 years of experience with customer service. Claudia grew up and raised her family in Montgomery County, MD. She attended the University of Miami where she received her B.A. in Broadcast Journalism. Fifteen years of her career was spent working as a pre-school teacher. At the Fairfax Hearing Center, Claudia divides her time evenly between working as the Patient Care Coordinator and the Practice Development Rep. When Claudia is not working, she enjoys spoiling her grandson as well as visiting her beach house in Ocean City, MD.
LaShea Haskins, is our Patient Care Coordinator and has been supporting patients at Fairfax Hearing Center since June of 2017. Growing up in Alexandria, VA, LaShea is quite familiar with her surroundings and enjoys greeting patients, both new and established. LaShea attended NVCC, where she earned an A.A. in Healthcare Management in 2013. With a background in Ophthamology and General Practice, LaShea has dedicated her 16 year medical career focusing on customer service and patient care. In her spare time, LaShea enjoys watching Disney movies with her 3 children.
Dr. O’Halloran received his undergraduate degree, B.S in Anthropology-Zoology, from the University of Michigan. He earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan where he graduated with Honors. He served his Internship in General Surgery at George Washington University and completed his residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Barnes Hospital-Washington University in St. Louis. He is certified by both the American Board of Otolaryngology and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. O’Halloran has published research articles in a variety of peer-reviewed journals and presented his research findings at national meetings. His personal interests include biking, boating and computer programming.
Dr. Egan received his medical degree from The George Washington University where he graduated with distinction. He completed his residency training in otolaryngology at The Boston University Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident. He is Board Certified in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and is the Residency Site Director for the George Washington University Otolaryngology Residency program at the INOVA Fairfax Hospital. Dr Egan enjoys treating children and adults with particular interest in endoscopic sinus surgery, treatment to chronic ear diseases and surgery of the neck. He was raised in Montgomery County and currently lives with his wife and four children.
Dr. Scheidemandel is board certified in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery. Originally from Germany, Dr. Scheidemandel completed his residency training at the University of Colorado, in Denver and Baylor University, in Houston Texas. Dr. Scheidemandel has been in practice since 1964. His hobbies include sailing.
Dr. Blank joins our practice after relocating from St. Louis, MO. A native of Memphis, TN, she received her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. Here, she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and awarded the Dean’s Award for the highest academic achievement. Dr. Blank completed her residency training in Otolaryngology at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. While in residency, she trained extensively in all aspects of head and neck surgery, including pediatrics, oncology, rhinology, otology, and facial plastic surgery. She enjoys treating patients of all ages and has a special interest in general pediatric otolaryngology. Additionally, Dr. Blank’s clinical interests include the medical and surgical treatment of sinus disease and allergy, salivary gland disorders, and diseases of the thyroid and parathyroid glands. During her free time, Dr. Blank enjoys spending time with her husband and two year old daughter.
